Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC)
Become a 259 Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) Member or a Screened Parent Volunteer!
SSC's are the local level of the Air Cadet League and are the primary sponsoring group for a squadron and responsible for raising funds to support the squadron’s training program, such as power familiarization flying, weekend exercises, band expenses, as well as rent, insurance, and operating costs. They work closely with the officers managing a squadron. Involvement with a Squadron SSC starts with simply becoming a screened volunteer, which enables you to help out at squadron events. Fundraising activities at local squadrons enable lots of fun optional activities, so we strongly encourage every cadet and their parent to participate in fundraising activities organized by their SSC.
When we Meet:
The SSC meets for a monthly board meeting the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm at LHQ 1498 Government St, Penticton, BC.
An AGM is held each fall (Usually the First Tuesday in October) to elect board positions and directors. Every cadet that is registered at the time of the AGM equals one membership vote allotted to the family..

Meet The Team
Kim Guenther
Director
Kim Guenther is the parent of a Cadet in their third year of the program. Kim is the past Chair of the SSC. Kim is a firm believer that the Cadet program is beneficial to youth - from teaching them responsibility, to instilling a sense of community, building leadership and life skills, giving youth exposure to programs or services that they may not otherwise be able to access, and providing opportunities to help them invest in their future.

Keath Moore was in the 259 Squadron back in the early 1990's. He made many friends in air cadets, a lot of whom he stays connected with today. Keath has been an air cadet parent for the last three years and and has been the Vice Chair for the last two years. Keath has seen first hand how the cadet program builds leadership, confidence, and integrity in youth!

Janine Moore has been with the Air Cadets as a parent for 3 years, and SSC Treasurer for 2 years. She sees Cadets as a vital program in Penticton, teaching our young adults’ responsibility, compassion, and character as well as providing them a safe and supportive environment to grow.
